Daily Lay Picks Results Review: 24 September 2026

Result data updated through 24 September 2026 · Published 25 September 2026 · Article updated 25 September 2026

Six picks were published on 24 September 2026. Five settled: four lay wins and one lay loss, for an 80.0% strike rate. Chief Sunday did not run.

Strike rate records how often a selected horse was beaten. It does not establish profit or, by itself, the quality of the original selection. Profit and loss depend on matched odds, stake, liability and commission.

Race-by-race review

13:50 · NEWMARKET (ROWLEY)

Mubasimah (IRE)

Lay win · 10th of 10

Mubasimah stayed towards the rear throughout and never threatened. Zooming won; Mubasimah finished last.

14:49 · PERTH

Elemental Eye

Lay loss · 1st of 9

Elemental Eye moved up after the third-last hurdle, challenged near the second-last and took the lead late to beat Curious Mrs Fox by three-quarters of a length.

15:52 · PONTEFRACT

Circus Of Rome

Lay win · 2nd of 9

Circus Of Rome raced prominently and led over a furlong out, but Wahdan passed him in the final 110 yards. He finished second, a length and a half behind.

17:10 · PERTH

Chief Sunday (FR)

Non-runner

Chief Sunday was withdrawn and took no part. Coventry won the race; this pick was void and is excluded from the settled strike rate.

18:00 · SOUTHWELL (AW)

Herculeus

Lay win · 8th of 9

Herculeus remained at the back and was never a factor. He finished eighth while Tasdeed came through to win.

20:00 · SOUTHWELL (AW)

Emmas Letter

Lay win · 5th of 12

Emmas Letter tracked the leaders, lost ground mid-race and moved up again over two furlongs out. She was hampered in the final furlong and finished fifth as Lady Ridgewood ran on to win.

What we learned / things to watch

Circus Of Rome looked the biggest threat among the beaten picks: he led late before Wahdan passed him. Elemental Eye did the opposite, finding enough after the third-last hurdle to win. Check how a horse finishes when it reaches the lead or meets a late challenge.

Emmas Letter was hampered late, so her fifth place needs that context. Chief Sunday was a non-runner and tells us nothing about the original race assessment.
