What lay wins and lay losses mean
Lay betting language can feel backwards. Lay Picks uses “lay win” to mean the published lay was successful because the selected horse did not win.

Lay win
The selected lay horse did not win the race. It may have finished placed, unplaced, pulled up, or otherwise been beaten in a settled race.
Lay loss
The selected lay horse won the race. This is the main risk in lay betting because the loss depends on the lay odds and liability.
Why SKIPs are separate
A SKIP is a decision not to publish a lay for that race. It is important to the workflow, but it is not counted as a lay win or lay loss.
