What lay wins and lay losses mean
Lay betting language can feel backwards. Lay Picks uses “lay win” to mean the published lay was successful because the selected horse did not win.

Lay win
The selected lay horse did not win the race. It may have finished placed, unplaced, pulled up, or otherwise been beaten in a settled race.
Lay loss
The selected lay horse won the race. This is the main risk in lay betting because the loss depends on the lay odds and liability.
Why voids and SKIPs are separate
A void or non-runner remains visible because a lay was published, but it is excluded from settled totals, strike rate and P/L. A SKIP means no lay was published for that race, so it remains outside the public results record.
